By the light of a torch we could look along the
length of the main chamber which was high enough to
stand up. It was perfectly dry with the roots of
plants hanging down to give a mysterious
appearance.The souterrain had been constructed by
digging a deep trench which was then lined with
great stones and capstones placed across the top
before being covered.
