we would like you to ensure you can find your way back to us before you

This Web Page has been set-up to
gather information on the name:
HARRAGHY
Our particular branch of the
family originated in Highwood, Moytura, Kilmacranny, County Sligo, Ireland.
(Near Boyle in County Roscommon)
We are aware of branches of the name in the Isle of Man, England, (especially Liverpool), Scotland, (including Glasgow and Edinburgh), America, (especially in New
Hampshire and Massachusetts), Australia (especially Melbourne)
and Canada.
Most of the people in our group
spell the name as either Harraghy or Harrahy.
However old records show a number
of spelling variations. There could be any number of variations. Possible
variations are set out on a separate page;- go to Name Variations.
Please let us know if you know of
any others.
We know very little about the
history of our name but anything we do know we have recorded on a separate
page. Go to History of Name.
Please send me any aditional information you may have.
We have an extensive database of
Harraghy Connections. We would like to add to it and keep it up to date. We
want to record details of people currently living as well as details of our
ancestors, and use the information to build family trees for the various
branches of the family. We ask all Harraghy Connections to put on record
whatever information they already have so that we can include it on a database.
A questionnaire is attached to this web page.
Please complete it and submit it to us.
If you can provide
information on more than one family member, then you may find it easier to put
the information on a spreadsheet and email it to us,using
the email address below. A pre-formatted Excel Spreadsheet (PC format) is
attached to this Web Page. You may find it simpler to download it and complete
it off-line. Click on Download.
NB The same
forenames recur over and over again in different branches of the family and
therefore it is important to provide as much information as possible.
We invite Harraghy Connections
to set up their own web pages and let us know so we can set up links between
them. If you already have a Web Page we ask you to inlude
a link to our page. Please email us and let us know; we will be glad to
reciprocate.
Please remember to add our Web
site to your Favorites list before you follow any of
our external links.(or Bookmark if you are a Netscape user). There is lots of
information on the Web and we have included some Links of our own you may wish to follow.
We have searched through phone
books and on line White Pages and we have listed the names we found in White Pages.
A search on Genealogy.com
turned up many names and you can see these by going to Search on Gencom.
Some names were also found on
the USA Social Security Death Index. Go to Search SSDI.
Most of us started our
internet search by going to various search engines and typing in the family
name. One of the benefits of having a relatively scarce name is that we don't
get overloaded with irrelevant information.
We have placed some of this
information on Har**ys on the Web.
This is a bit of a jungle at
the moment, but we will tidy it up as we progress.
We have included a page to
record any family news items, bits of gossip and anything else you would like
to share with our wider family group. No slander please! We can also use it to
post any queries you have on your own individual family connections.
Please let us have any
relevant information and we will include it on our Message Board.
Nothing like some family
photos to catch our attention, so we have included a Picture Gallery.
Remember it will take a little longer to download pictures.
Please share your photos with
us so that we can include them in the Gallery. We are particularly interested
in seeing any old photos you may have.
Watch out for more pages still
to come!
We also welcome any
correspondence and information regarding the family name and the people who
share its heritage.
We can be contacted by email
at the address shown at the bottom of the page and you can email other Harraghy
Connections by going to Contact Us.

Update as at March 7, 2007.
This web site was originally set up in early 1999,
and proved to be an excellent resource in making contact with Harraghy
connections. We made great progress during 1999, but our intensive research
more or less exhausted itself by early 2000. There has been very little
activity in the past 6 years, but we still have all the information that we
gathered and are happy to share this with other Harraghy connections. We have
built an extensive family tree, but there are still gaps in it. If you know
that you have a Harraghy connection somewhere, please contact us. More than
likely we can give you some information on your connections, and you just might
be able to fill in some of the blanks in our own records.
Back in 1999, if we did a search on the name
Harraghy, or one of its variations, we got a relatively small number of hits.
Today you will get over 1200 hits. Other sources of information have also
become available online.
However best results were achieved by direct contact
with living Harraghy connections.
We are now hoping to reconstruct this web site, and
in the meantime have pruned some of the information that was previously
available.
Whether you are seeking information, or you have
information to share with us, please email me at harraghy@utvinternet.com
This Web site is maintained by Tommy Harraghy.
The site is now under reconstruction.
We welcome your
feedback.
