Newman

2.  1820 - 1833 The Wonder Years

'Who can be a materialist after they have seen a dead body?'
he thought to himself.

His mother thought:
'my son needs to get married,
he needs someone to follow his coffin.'

Before he returned to St Clements-
where he invested and worked carefully,
he learnt that his creed did not work;
it did not go deep enough
and he changed/adapted/grew.

Even built his own church -
Littlemore.
As preacher
he searched.
A new light was revealed;
the early church
a simple honest approach that Oxford
in its brilliance
had obscured.
