Firstly, sorry about the lack of updates. Anyway, there hasn't been too much to report in any case. The big news being that some of the tourdates have been rescheduled due to Adam being sick for some of the US ones.
Adam and David Immergluck are hosting their own radio show - "Devil & The Bunny Show" - the link is below.
The band played the Tonight Show with Jay Leno last week. They played Kid Things.
E-greetings have a few flash postcards for CC.
A few of the recent shows have been broadcast over the net - Pat has recorded some on his site - check it out.
Countingcrowsdirect.com (their official store) released a limited edition 1000 copies of 'By the time we got to Woodstock' - a compilation of songs recorded live on their Canadian mini-tour last Summer. They sold out almost immediately.
Quite a lot of news recently - most importantly the release of 'this desert life' on November 2.
Also important - adam has started posting to aol again - sometimes 4 a day!
They are in the middle of a US tour at the moment with more dates being added as they go along.
Countingcrows.com has updated their site with a big 'this desert life' feel - not much new content and the old site is still accessible through it. You can also enter sweepstakes to win US show tickets through their shop, Countingcrowsdirectcom.
There are also a load of interviews reviews and features around - links on the articles archive page.
Rollingstone.com is holding a live chat with Counting Crows on December 15th @8pm EST. You can also win an autographed copy of 'tdl'.
They also appeared on Conan O' Brian Nov 4 and David Letterman on Nov 18
The 'Hanginaround' single has been released in the UK & Ireland as of Yesterday, 15th October - although not officially until Monday 18th. Update
Since the last news update, we have seen a number of important events. Firstly, 'this desert life' has been confirmed for release on November 2 and is available for pre-ordering on CDNOW and Amazon.com among others. The 'HanginAround' video premiered on MTV in the US this week and you can vote for it on Total Request. Lisa has the video available for download on annabegins.com. About 30 tour dates have been announced and tickets are available through Ticketmaster. Unfortunately, a concert at Bloomington University has been cancelled apparently because of the seating arrangements. There are also a number of new articles and features being published in the run up to the launch and I will be adding them soon. Finally, CC are playing NetAid in Giants Stadium tonight.

An advance copy of the new CD has been offered for auction on eBay on September 12. The good thing about this is that we have some more 'definite' info on the release. The track list is as follows Hangin' Around, Mrs. Potter's Lullaby, Amy Hit the Atmosphere, Four Days, All My Friends, High Life, Colorblind, I Wish I Was A Girl, Speedway, Saint Robinson In His Cadillac Dream and Kid Things as a hidden track (as suspected).
The advance cover is a picture of a man with a fishbowl! The back has a burning dress over a cross.
It also has listed some up coming dates with a release due November 2, the tour to start in Atlanta on October 26 and a confirmation of their NetAid date at Giants Stadium, NY on October 9th.
Hangin Around is being released to the press on October 4th and is scheduled for the air on the 5th.
In other news to be updated, wettoad's MP3 site has been closed because of bandwidth limitations, Woodstock MP3s are available via countingcrows.com (the 'lost tapes' !!!), a small data has been announceed in Philadelphia for November 12th.
Counting Crows are scheduled to perform at Net Aid on October 9, a concert in aid of the UN to help fight poverty. Other acts appearing will include Bono, Bush, Celine Dion, the Corrs and Jewel in what they organisers hope will be the biggest multimedia event. Sponsored by Cisco, the event will run at three venues, Wembley Stadium in London, Giants Stadium in N.J., and the Palais des Nations in Geneva. The shows will be broadcast by VH1/MTV in the US and also by the BBC in the UK with the website being designed to handle 125,000 simultaneous RealVideo streams. It is not clear which event Counting Crows will perform at, but tickets are due to go onsale on September 8.

Who is David Immergluck?
A lot of people have asked about David Immergluck and his role. Well, he's 38 and has played on all three of the CDs.
He is pictured on the back cover of AAEA holding cards and looking up. He was the lead singer & guitarist for Monks of Doom and recording engineer for Sordid Humour.
Through SH, he met Tom Barnes and, in turn, Adam. He played bass & guitar for Sordid Humour's Light Music for Dying People CD. Now he is touring with Counting Crows, but is not officially a band-member yet. {additional info from Adam Beck}

US / Candian Tour Review
So, the mini US / Canadian Tour is over. What sounds like an amazing 12 nights in front of small crowds finished in front of a huge audience at Woodstock '99 on Saturday.
Kid Things will definitely not be on the CD now - and Baby I'm a Big Star Now! was confirmed also. Hanging Around now looks certain to be the first single given the amount of play it was given and MTV/radio-friendliness.
They opened each night with the Beatle's Magical Mystery Tour and played She's Leaving Home on occasion also. They also covered Sweet Home Alabama and rearranged Mr Jones and Have You Seen Me Lately? with both electric and acoustic-style mixes. Mrs. Potter's Lullaby was inserted into Round Here, which continues its epic status. Also played were Speedway, Four Days and ,almost everynight, St. Robinson in his Cadillac Dream. The new music seems considerably more positive than before, with the band having a lighter feeling about things (Adam even shaved his beard!).
It is also on the cards that they will play US two dates in August.
After hearing last week that the band would be travelling to South Africa, Countingcrows.com announced the 4 August dates yesterday. There are no online sales and news will be psoted to the FAQ touring page when available.

'Baby I'm a Big Star Now' dropped from CD !
Word from the band after the shows is that 'Baby I'm a Big Star Now' has been dropped from the CD. The song was featrued in the movie Rounders but was never meant to be on a soundtrack - just on 'this desert life'. As a result, the song may be put on the b-side of the first single. The first single was also likely now to be 'Hangin Around'.

Canadian Tour Starts - cd updates
With three dates over, reports are coming back that the shows are great. The venues are quite small generally and they are playing mostly material from the original CDs, with usually only two or three new tracks including Mrs. Potter, Hangin Around & St. Robinson. They have brought back the original electric version of 'Mr. Jones' and have again altered 'Have you seen me Lately'. News is also coming confirming that the CD won't be out until October and will then be followed by a tour to promote it.

Counting Crows play secret gig in LA
The band played a secret gig in LA on Thursday, July 1. The details were only posted to the newsgroup and aol folder on the day courtesy of the band's management. Advance warning went out to the people on the FAQ site list. They played a mix of new and old songs including Another Horsedreamers Blues and an electric Mr. Jones.
Some new info - Kid Things will not be on the CD, the CD will be out in October, they will tour South Africa after Canada, then a six-week break and then the US. David Immergluck is not officially a new member of the band but will accompany them on the tour.

Adam celebrates the Beatles

New member for CC?
Matt has posted to aol and said 'Immergluck is an awesome musician - Counting Crows is now 7'. This may mean that he has joined the band. Note that Dan Vickrey joined only after recording 'August & Everything After', so this would not be too extraordinarily weird. David Immergluck is a friend of the band for many years and was a member of Sordid Humour (Adam's previous band) and has performed on both aaea and rts (notably on Round Here and Miller's Angels) as well as appearing on stage with them sometimes.

Possible release delay - as song(s) rerecorded
Rumours are spreading that 'this desert life' will be delayed as Geffen have ordered the album to be redone. This could cause a delay with it's release, but we are still waiting for an official announcement. Matt has since said that it was only one song (but not which one). That would probably not delay it much, if at all, so we wait and see
