[Seahorse]

A large proportion of the earth is covered by oceans and seas . The earths oceans are a major economic resource but they also are a major factor on controlling our weather and life .

[Pelicans on the bridge wing]

The sea is host to many different species and even forms of life .
I like the sea and its creatures and would like to see them preserved in harmony with man .
To see dolphins leaping clear of the water in the wild or riding along the bow wave of a ship is truely a really wonderful sight . Whales when sighted are fasinating and awe inspiring .
Albatrosses that can spend years soaring the Southern Oceans before returning to land .
Flying Fish gliding through the air and the Bioluminescence seen at night in a ships wake .

Of course onboard a ship you sometimes get visits from creatures that are perhaps best suited to a life on land . Sometimes these animals , normally birds , require a little bit of help before they can return home . As seen here a helpful sparky feeds two such lost souls .

All the life of the sea is worth protecting and seeing . It is to this end I have included a few links that are orientated towards the marine environment .

Joseph Gross , a USA Officer in the Merchant Marine , makes his comments known about shipping and the environment .
