Saturday 21st. July 2001 was a very special day for the Society. After a 59 year absence UAS member Charles Stover made the return trip to Langford Lodge. In 1942 Charles was an instrument technician and an employee of the Lockheed Overseas Corporation and was stationed at Langford Lodge for 6 months in the late spring during the early days of the depot. Shortly after discovering this website some years ago Charles made contact and immediatley signed up as a member of the UAS. We are very grateful to Charles for all his assistance over the years with research etc. and for his kind donation of numerous pieces of memorabilia including the patch on the left. If you or a member of your family were there and you want to talk over old times, why not drop Charles a line? Charles's visit got excellent coverage in the local press. Our thanks to the Antrim Guardian for permission to reproduce the article and photograph below. |
Charles was very familiar with the instrument shop pictured below and was even able to identify the piece of equipment which one of the technicians is working on as a Artificial Horizon test jig.
