Personal Survival Kit

All below to be packed in a tobbacco style tin, and always carried on the
person.

1 candle - nightlight style in metal cup.
magnifying lens - fire starter (Christmas crackers are a good source of small lenses)
2 single edged razors/scalpel blades. - Found  at good Hi-Fi shops, they're used 
for editing tape.
1 good quality wire saw.
water purifying tablets.
analgesic tablets - aspirin, paracetamol, ibuprofen as preferred.
emergency fishing kit - several small hooks, line, trace, swivels, weights.
emergency sewing kit - needles, strong thread one or two buttons.
matches - as many as you can fit in, those supplied in the Bundeswehr ration
packs are wooden and foil sealed.
brass wire - suitable for snares, repair etc.
space blanket.
pencil stub.
potassium permanganate crystals - disinfectant and fire starter.
flint & steel.
short length magnesium ribbon.
unlubricated condom. - For carrying water!
aluminium foil.
button compass.

The above will JUST fit into a standard sqaure tobacco tin with careful
packing.  It should be sealed and wrapped in wateproof tape. Never open this
kit unless it is required.
